When I read the scripture you gave, they were lies. God has abandoned me. I cry to him and he does not help or come. He is invisible. Maybe I will stop believing. The video did nothing for me but highlight how inconsistent the scripture was to the reality of my life. The only one that was true was David’s initial words.

      Hi, Michelle,

I hear your pain and your discouragement. Over twenty years ago, I went through a period of time when I was angry with God. I didn’t think that He cared, and I couldn’t seem to reach Him.

There were moments when I wanted to quit believing, but I held on to Mark 9:24 about the man who “cried out and said with tears, Lord I believe, help thou mine unbelief.” I rededicated my life to the Lord because I knew that nothing was going to work out unless Jesus was the Lord of my life in a new and personal way.

Changes came from making decisions to hold onto my faith one day at a time. I let someone speak into my life and encourage me with their faith. As I finally understood that God and His Word are inseparable, I spent more time in His Word. I learned what the believer’s authority really was, and I began to see many of the ways I had sabotaged my own faith.

Through the years, one of the people who has helped me greatly is Pastor Sandra Kennedy from Augusta, Georgia. Her messages are encouraging and powerful. She helped to show me many of the areas in which I needed a shift in my thinking and understanding.

For example, one turning point came when I heard a message over 15 years ago in which she said, “Faith does not beg God to do something.” She recently repeated much of that message in one of her services. If you would like to hear it, you can go to and click on the message at the bottom of the page from January 15, 2016 for Healing Explosion 105. Her message begins around minute 29. Even though the primary emphasis of this service is physical healing, the revelation she is sharing relates to all areas of our life — healing, relationships, finances, etc. I strongly encourage you to listen to this message.

The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He especially does not want you to believe that the Word of God is true. He uses depression and life circumstances to keep your mind and thoughts believing his lies. He will relentlessly whisper that God does not care about you because if He did, things would be different. He never wants you to learn the things you need to know in order to activate the spritual principles that produce victory in your life.

I don’t know your circumstances, but I do know that circumstances do not prove that the Word of God is either true or not true. What I can tell you is that God loves you, no matter how things seem in your life. God’s Word is true, and God is faithful to perform it.

I will be praying for you. May you come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as someone who loves you and cares for you dearly.

      Hi, Shannon,

Thank you for letting us know that our new video on overcoming depression has lifted and encouraged you. Please take a look at some of the other posts on this website for more insight and revelation about ways to take authority over this attack of the enemy. You might start with these three:

Does God Want You To Be Well?

What Does the Word “Saved” Really Mean?

Do You Define Yourself By Your Illness

Depression is a curse from the enemy. He wants to steal our joy and keep us from fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. I learned much from some messages called “No More Curse,” given by Pastor Tracy Harris of Harvest International Ministries, Texarkana, Arkansas.

The initial message I heard about 4 years ago is available for free at his website:

If you go to that website, click “Enter” to move to the home page. In the tab row, look at the “Yesterday” section and select “Classics.” Then click on “Classics MP3s.” Next, scroll down until you see “No More Curse.” Get your Bible and follow along as he shares his powerful revelation of Deuteronomy 28.

Yesterday Pastor Tracy began a seven-week series — all on “No More Curse.” All the services are being live-streamed on the internet every Sunday for the rest of this year at 10:00 Central Time (from Texarkana, Arkansas). My understanding is that they will all be archived and that yesterday’s message should be posted by the end of this week. I stayed home from church yesterday so I could hear it live. It was EXTREMELY powerful, and I encourage you to listen — not only to yesterday’s message but to all the ones for the rest of the year.

Again, I am glad that you found our video and visited us here at God really DOES want you to walk in the victory that Jesus won for us on the Cross. We join in prayer with you for your complete emotional health.

      Many blessings,

P.S. It would be a blessing to us if you would “like” our video on YouTube.

Thank you for your beautiful video on scriptures for depression. It really helped.

    • Moderator November 11, 2014 at 12:18 pm

      Hi, La Trisha,

I am delighted to know that the video on Scriptures for Overcoming Depression lifted you and encouraged you. God is so good, and He wants all of us to have peace in our soul as we rest in His blessings and love. These are times that seem to be filled with pressures coming from every side — but God has provided a way for us to walk in victory, no matter what is going on around us.

I have a question about the length of the video. The longer length seemed right for this particular video, but sometimes people want a shorter video. What do you think about the length of it? I would really be interested in your feedback. Thank you for participating in our website. We hope you will visit often. And let me know what kinds of posts you would like to see.

      Many blessings,
